Basics of Indian Share Market
Share -Share is nothing but the Ownership of the company divided into small parts and each part is called as Share or Stock.A person carrying a share of a compnay holds that part of ownership in that company. A person holding maximum shares has maximum ownership like directors, chairman etc.
Share Market -A Share market is the place where buying and selling of shares takes place.Nowdays due to internet and advanced technology buying and selling of shares takes place anywhere in india and also from foreign country, there is no need to be physical present in exchanges like NSE and BSE.Stock markets like NSE and BSE enable trading of a company’s stock.
First let us understand the Working of a share (stock) market
To learn more about how you can earn on the stock market, one has to understand how it works. A person want to buy/sell shares in the share market has to first place his/her order with a broker or can do themselves using online trading systems (this will be discussed later).
When the buy order of the shares is communicated to the exchange [either NSE {National Stock Exchange} or BSE {Bombay Stock Exchange}]. The order stays in the queue of exchange’s other orders and gets executed if the price of that share comes to that value. The shares purchased will be sent to the you either in physical or demat format
Rolling Settlement Cycle: (RSC)
RSC means when you will get your shares in your demat account or in physical form.
In a rolling settlement, each trading day(T) is considered as a trading period and trades executed during the trading day(T) are settled on a T+2 basis i.e. trading day plus two working days.
What is Demat account and why it is required?
# Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is a board (corporate body) appointed by the Government of India in 1992 with its head office at Mumbai. Its one of the function is helping the business in stock exchanges and any othersecurities markets.
# Demat (short form of Dematerialization) is the process by which an investor can get shares (also called as physical certificates) converted into electronic form maintained in an account with the Depository Participant (DP).
# DP could be organizations involved in the business of providing financial services like banks, brokers, financial institutions etc. DP’s are like agents of Depository.
# Depository is an organization responsible to maintain investor’s securities (securities can be shares or any other form of investments) in the electronic form. In India there are two such organizations called NSDL (National Securities Depository Ltd.) and CDSL (Central Depository Services India Ltd.)

The Year 2038 Bug!!!!
But the Unix bug will occur in 2038. That's because the date system started in 1970 and uses a time_t (signed int) to hold the number of seconds. The highest value is 2147483648-1 which is 24855.13 days. Add that to Jan 1 1970 and you get Jan 19 2038! So sometime early on that morning of that date, any software using a signed int for a date will rollover to Jan 1 1970! Now that you know, you will take care of it I hope!
SP3 for Windows XP speeds up the whole system

Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3), the update scheduled to release next year, runs Microsoft Corp.’s Office suite 10% faster than XP SP2, a performance testing software developer reported Friday. Devil Mountain Software, which earlier in the week claimed Windows Vista SP1 was no faster than the original, repeated some of the same tests on the release candidate of Windows XP SP3, the service pack recently issued to about 15,000 testers. “We were pleasantly surprised to discover that Windows XP SP3 delivers a measurable performance boost to this aging desktop OS,” said Craig Barth, Devil Mountain’s chief technology officer, in a post to a company blog Friday. According to the Office performance benchmarks, Windows XP SP3 is also considerably faster than Vista SP1. ”
None of this bodes well for Vista, which is now more than two times slower than the most current builds of its older sibling,” said Barth. Microsoft has at times struggled to wean users from the six-year-old Windows XP and get them to migrate to Vista. During 2007, for example, it made several XP concessions, including adding five years to the support lifespan of the Home edition and extending OEM and retail sales of XP through June 2008, as it recognized that customers wanted to hold on to the older OS. That’s definitely good news for all users like me who decided to stay with not so problematic Windows XP. I guess Vista will become usable too, but it will take few Service Packs…
New Nvidia GeForce 8800GTS

Nvidia has postponed its upcoming GeForce 8800GTS GPU from the original launch date of November 19 to December 11, according to sources at graphics card makers.
The new GeForce 8800GTS 512MB cards will replace the previous generation GeForce 8800GTS 640MB cards with a 65nm process GPU supporting PCI Express 2.0, HDMI and PureVideo Gen2. The GPU will have 128 streaming processors, 970MHz GDDR3 memory frequency, 650MHz core frequency and a maximum TDP of 140W, according to the sources.
Since the G92 graphics chip on which the GeForce 8800GTS is based has shown good performance after overclocking in the recently launch 8800GT series cards, several graphics card makers are planning to launch overclocked versions of the 8800GTS to boost demand.
GeForce 8800GTS 512MB cards are expected to be priced around US$299-349.
A Geforce 8800 GTS with 1024 MB memory is rumored to be released by Nvidia later on, but no release date is set. This is good news for those of you who like to run games and such on High Resolutions!
Google maps will find you, even without GPS

Google launched a location service for mobile users on Wednesday that doesn’t rely on GPS. Google Maps with My Location, currently in beta, locates users who don’t have GPS-enabled phones based on their location to nearby cell towers. The result isn’t as accurate as GPS (Global Positioning System) but works for people who lack the positioning technology in their phones. “It helps users speed up search by showing the general neighborhood they’re in,” said Steve Lee, product manager at Google for the service. Without the location service, users must type in their address or neighborhood in order to find nearby businesses using Google Maps. Google Maps with My Location will use GPS data to locate the user if the phone has the capability. But even for users of GPS-enabled phones, the cell location service might be useful, Lee said. That’s because the cell tower feature works better indoors than GPS, it doesn’t drain the phone battery as quickly and can bring up a result quicker, he said.
The service could be useful to a person who might be traveling in an unfamiliar city and looking for restaurants or other businesses. A user pulls up Google Maps and hits the zero key on the phone. A blue dot will appear on the map in the user’s location. Google says the cell tower technique will locate the user within about 1000 meters. It doesn’t use triangulation, which calculates a user location based on the user’s distance to three nearby towers. Instead, it essentially shows the range of the tower that the user’s phone is connecting to. In order to use the service, phone owners must download a free application from Google. The application will work on BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and Symbian phones as well as many phones that support Java.
